Vinyl Album Design
My objective with this project was to take an existing album and design a new sleeve with updated graphics and typography. Purple Rain by Prince and The Revolution is an iconic soundtrack that was a challenge to design. In developing my concept, I considered the color palette to keep my work cohesive and recognizable with the original cover image. A color mesh in the original palette made for an interesting graphic. My design is a minimal take on the album, but emphasizes my experience with typographical hierarchy and grid systems. I used Adobe Illustrator to design my background content, and InDesign to incorporate the text.
Snack Package design
This project was a focus on developing Valentine’s Day packaging for an existing sweets brand. The product I designed for is the Hostess Brand Cupcake. This is a snack cake that has been on the market for decades and remains a favorite of those loyal to the brand. My goal with this design was to create functional packaging that is styled to meet traditional guidelines of the Hostess Brand and typical elements associated with Valentine’s Day. I used Adobe Illustrator to develop my illustrations and design a printable die-cut template.
poster design
Designing posters is my favorite way to practice new skills and stretch my creative muscles. I have a passion for designing band posters and movie posters. Within my work I like to focus on expressing ideas through unique typography and visually interesting graphics. These posters were developed using Adobe Photoshop.
Wayfinding Design
Wayfinding systems are incorporated into all public spaces to help visitors navigate the area and get to their destination. Through this project, I was developing my own wayfinding signage to incorporate into the design wing at SIU. I was inspired by hand painted type and roughly drawn icons. My system was developed for acrylic signs and vinyl floor decals.
Advertisement Campaign
This advertisement campaign project was centered around showcasing a creative slogan for a brand. I developed a slogan and set of advertisements for Smoothie King to emphasize their mission of using clean ingredients in every drink. I utilized an image of the cup and fresh berries to create ads that are similar to their typical style.
